A Chicken fried chicken Smile!
We began with lobster in Maine last week,
then yesterday high in the peaks of the
interior Alaska mountains seeking the elusive
mountain snow crab herds, we realized the need
for a "Plan B". Here's "Plan B" as inspired by
the gentleman pictured above. He has neither
jug nor gold claim like the first Alaskans we
met, but he does have a lake side cabin I'd trade
gold for and he seems to know about crab.
His suggestion was we shift our crab quest to
the other Alaska... the one on the coast. He also
suggested on the way we stop for fried chicken
at Chicken, population around 49. He said we'd
find it by keeping watch for the sign on the road
"Chicken - pop. around 49 - Drive Slow or Miss Us".
At Chicken we had a great fried chicken dinner and
discovered a present day example of that unique
frontier spirit that for over 200 years has made
America so great. As we coninue with "Plan B"
we'll mark down here a description of that spirit
as shown in the picture below. It is quite simply;

"no matter if you're hundreds of miles out in
the middle of nowheres.... THINK BIG." ;-)
